Frequently asked questions
What happens during a house call?
A clinician arrives at your home with everything needed for a full visit — much like a doctor's office appointment, without the travel. They'll review your health, examine you, handle prescriptions, and order any tests, most of which can be done right at home.
How do I prepare for my visit?
Have your insurance card, a list of current medications (or the bottles themselves), and any recent hospital or specialist paperwork nearby. A well-lit, comfortable place to sit is all the 'exam room' we need.
How does billing work?
Visits are billed to your insurance like a regular office visit. We accept all Medicare non-HMO plans and all PPO plans — our intake team verifies your coverage by phone before your first visit.
What if I need care urgently?
Call us — we provide urgent home visits to our patients as needed, and can often prevent an unnecessary emergency room trip. For life-threatening emergencies, always call 911 first.
Can a family member or caregiver speak for me?
Yes. With your permission, caregivers and family members can help coordinate scheduling, be present at visits, and get access to the patient portal on your behalf. Ask our team about proxy access when you call.

For caregivers & family
Helping someone you love
Much of our patients’ care is coordinated by a son, daughter, or caregiver. You can call on a patient’s behalf, be present at visits, and — with the patient’s permission — get proxy access to the patient portal to view results and messages.
To set up proxy access, call 718-444-7766 and our team will walk you through it.
