Homebound on Medicare? How Home Primary Care Visits Work
One of the most common questions our intake team hears is: "Does Medicare really cover a doctor coming to the house?" For most of our patients, the answer is yes.
How coverage works
Kings County House Calls accepts all Medicare non-HMO plans and all PPO plans. A home visit is billed to your insurance much like an office visit — being seen at home doesn't mean paying out of pocket.
Who qualifies
Home-based primary care serves patients for whom getting to an office is a genuine hardship. You don't need to be bedbound: difficulty with stairs, reliance on others for transport, or health conditions that make travel risky are everyday reasons our patients choose care at home.
No paperwork to start
We keep enrollment simple on purpose. Sign up with just your name, phone, and email — then our intake team calls you, verifies your insurance over the phone, and schedules your first visit, usually within 48 hours. Keep your Medicare card handy for that call and we handle the rest.
Caregivers can handle everything
Many of our patients' visits are arranged by a son, daughter, or caregiver. You can call on your loved one's behalf, be present at every visit, and get proxy access to their patient portal. See our caregiver resources for details.
